Proud Theater is an award‐winning, exciting and innovative
theater program designed to foster self expression
and self‐empowerment in youth
who are interested in changing the world
through the power of theater. Proud Theater
is open to young people age 13 to 19 who
identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender,
queer/questioning (LGBTQ), or who
are the children of LGBTQ parents, or allies of
the LGBTQ community at large.
Founded in 1999 by Sol Kelley‐Jones and
Callen Harty, Proud Theater has been nationally
recognized for our innovative approaches
in working with youth. We are an incubator
for youth leadership and a potent component
in local efforts to promote LGBTQ visibility.
